Types of professional development
within the Focus-Trust
All the academies within the Trust are willing partners who have actively chosen to join the Focus-Trust and there is a very high degree of consensus, cooperation and commitment from all stakeholders. Each of the academies within the Trust is autonomous and has their own distinctive ethos which meets the need of their pupils and community.
All academies support our ethos of Collective Efficacy (‘A shared commitment to work together on the things that matter and improve outcomes for all’).
Staff benefit from the opportunity to link across a wider community of diverse academies and attend a range of forums where they benefit from enhanced professional development and mutual support.
Some of our forums include:
- Leaders (attended by Principals and Deputies)
- English Leaders
- Mathematics Leaders
- Early Years Leaders
- Business Managers
- Pupil Premium
- Pedagogical Enquiry
- Improving Outcomes for pupils
All of the above forums have enabled staff at all levels to benefit from
enhanced professional development and mutual support.
The Trust runs its own programme for the induction of Newly Qualified Teachers and works in partnership with Manchester Nexus to offer a school-based Primary PGCE Teacher Training programme here in the North West.
Focus-Trust also has strong links with our sponsor, Focus Education and staff members benefit from their latest publications, training and consultancy.
All Trustees, Principals, Deputies and central team members have agreed the strategic priorities for all 15 academies during 2019 – 2021.
